Rimanendo in tema di nucleare, vale la pena segnalare l’intervento di Jeremy Rifkin alla Sapienza di Roma in occasione dei dieci anni di Banca Etica.
L’economista guru della “green economy” ha scommesso sul fallimento del progetto nucleare nel nostro paese partendo da semplici quanto importanti dati: "Oggi in tutto il mondo sono presenti 439 centrali che realizzano solo il 5% dell'energia, quindi per poter arrivare ad avere un impatto sul clima (ridurre le emissioni di anidride carbonica) dovrebbero produrre il 20% dell'energia totale, ma questo significherebbe costruire tre centrali ogni trenta giorni per 10 anni, visto che ne sarebbero necessarie 2.000 […] nel 2025 le scorte di uranio si esauriranno; già non c'è abbastanza acqua per raffreddare i reattori, basti pensare che solo la Francia utilizza il 40% delle risorse idriche a questo scopo".
Dopo aver indicato come soluzione reale al problema energia la costruzione di abitazioni che si auto-alimentano con sole e vento e quant’altro di rinnovabile (ai lettori affezionati non sfuggirà il riferimento a Follonica) la natura ci abbia regalato, Rifkin sul problema delle scorie afferma che "non sappiamo ancora come trasportarle e stoccarle. Gli Stati Uniti hanno investito 8 miliardi di dollari in 18 anni per stoccare i residui all'interno di montagne dove avrebbero dovuto restare al sicuro per quasi 10 mila anni. Bene, hanno già cominciato a contaminare l'area […] Pensate che l'Italia sia in grado di fare meglio di noi?". Noi, nel nostro piccolo, non lo pensiamo affatto.

Keeping on nuclear topic, we point out the speech taken by Jeremy Rifkin in Sapienza – University of Rome, on Banca Etica’s ten years celebration. The economist, a real guru of green economy, has bet on failure of our country nuclear project, starting by simples but importants data: “In all around the world there are 439 stations, which produce only 5% of energy. So, to have an impact on climate and reduce CO2 emissions, these should produce 20% of total energy; but this means to build three new stations every months per ten years, because will be necessary 2000 stations. Uranium stores will exhaust in 2025. There’s not enough water to cool reactors yet: France use 40% of your own water resources in order to that”
After suggesting a real solution to solve energy problems as self-feeding houses, using solar energy, wind and every possible renewable sources (our followers certainly remember the example of Follonica), Rifkin talks about radioactive waste question: “We still don’t know how carry out and stock them. US Government has invested 8 thousand billions of dollars in 18 years, to stock waste inside mountains, where should have been safe for almost 10000 years. Well, it started to contaminate yet. Do you think that Italy would be able to do it better than us?” Onestly, we don’t believe it at all.
